4-Wheeling on the Tundra
We went 4-wheeling with our good friend Greg Harr and his two sons. It was crazy! David rented a "Rhino." It’s one of those bigger 4-wheelers where you sit side-by-side with the passenger. On the drive there David and Greg took turns sharing stories of how amazing these Rhinos are, how they are able to go where nothing else can. We had only been out riding a few minutes when we came upon an open - very wet - marsh. (You have to remember for this next part that before this I had only been 4-wheeling in the dry Utah desert, which turns out to be very different from the spongy Alaska tundra.) So of course I put the Rhino to the test, I was sure it could take the marsh. I went ahead full speed, and got royally stuck. Long story short, David and Greg spent the next two hours trying to get us unstuck, bringing each 4-wheeler in to help, and getting each new one stuck. There was a point when I was seriously worried; if we couldn't get unstuck what would we do - what could get them out? But thanks to Greg's super winch, and to David's and Greg’s efforts of tearing trees down to put under the wheels - we were freed. The best part was watching David try to keep everyone clean so that we wouldn't dirty his truck!

This looks amazingly fun. I can't wait to see more pictures if they are all as exciting and heart stopping as these four-wheeling pictures!
Um hi, when did you get a blog and why didn't we know? :) I am so happy about this!!!!
Hey you have a blog! Yeah! How are you enjoying the great north?
I can't believe you have had a blog all this time and you never told me. Are we even friends anymore Cindy? :) I seriously miss you. I've tried calling a few times but have yet to connect. I will keep trying.
Afghanistan? Really? :)
Hey Dave, I tracked you down through your brother's blog. Hey I am supposed to come up there in march. It may or may not happen now because nikki is prego with triplets. Crazy huh.
We love you guys and can't wait to see you in December!!!
Love-
Avelyn Kaylee Samantha Aimee and Eric
Just for the record, I check Cindy's blog every day. Sometimes five or six times a day. It's so addicting, I can't help myself. I just don't want to miss anything.
In order to motivate my sister to actually start posting entries to her blog, BY HERSELF, WHILE SHE IS ACTUALLY IN ALASKA, and not with Tiffany sitting next to her coaxing her along in my parent's home, I refuse to post anything new to my own magnificent and well-followed blog. Yes, many of my faithful readers will suffer each day that Cindy continues to neglect her blog. (Dave, you can post too, we ought not to let you off so easily.) It will be difficult for me to refrain from posting, because we all know how diligent I am at blogging, however, it is a sacrifice that I am willing to make so that Cindy will awaken, arise and begin the blogging process in earnest. (And I know from talking to Dad that today was your last day of work for the rest of December, so you have NO excuse to not get caught up on things. HA!)
See how I am rewarded for checking your blog every day! I say this is a great idea! Cindy posting all by herself! And Jordan does deserve a rest. Really, I don't know how one person can do all that he manages to do.
But wait--if Cindy posts--then Jordan does not get a rest--well, we really can't lose either way, can we?
You know, I say who need Cindy to post anyway? You've created a brilliant enough blog in the comments. I'm going to stop checking for new blog entries and just check for comments. You guys are hillarious.
Cindy I found your blog. Yeah now we can always keep in touch.
Let's see...you recently said that one day SOON inspiration would strike and you would put us all to shame with your abundance of posts. I am filled with anticipation.
New Phase of Trying To Get Cindy To Blog:
Things I Like About You:
1. You leave awesome comments on my blog and I wish you would leave more. You are a great writer.
2. You have more clothes than anyone I know. (And they're all from Banana Republic, which is pretty darn cool.) (If you ever need to hand some of those clothes down to someone, remember your sister.)
3. You're going to Rome. And you invited me.
4. You introduced me to the sonicare toothbrush.
5. You are good at math.
Ha! that's two in the same day, you missed the 31st. I win!
but I do like your comments! I don't mind if you keep going :)
What do you mean you win??? And, anyway, in spirit, one of those comments was from Thursday. When I went to write it, Darren was on the computer doing our taxes, and when he finished, well, it was late and I forgot, but it still counts!
6. You read your blog even though you don't write it.
Hey! After thinking about if for a few hours it occurred to me that I win! You wrote something on your blog! But, I'm going to keep going until I see an actual, bona-fide post with pictures.
7. You love to run and have sparked an interest in running in me.
8. You are really, really, really good with kids. My kids love you.
9. You hair magically went curly one day. I wish mine would do that.
(Got confused yesterday--went to leave a comment, and then thought no, I already did, but I didn't. That's what happens in the middle of the week around here.)
10. You lived in San Francisco for three years.
11. It was fun to visit you in San Francisco (and to see your amazing driving skills).
Happy Chinese New Year! It's the year of the Rat. I'm an Ox--my year next year. What are you?
12. Did I say amazing driving skills? I meant awesome and truly super-hero like driving skills. Hope you get plenty of chances to parallel park in Alaska. (Even super-heros have to keep their skills sharp.)
